DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor web applications and database systems
  • Automate deployment, reduce release cycle time
  • Suggest and implement infrastructure solutions
  • Keep software platforms up to date
  • Security, data and systems backups
  • Network management, VPC
  • Provide support and improve build tools, continuous integration, automated testing
  • Minimise cloud hosting costs
  • Log management, server monitoring, performance analysis
  • Data storage and management
  • Internal support such as Google apps, general troubleshooting

Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of core Amazon Web Service Infrastructure (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, Route53, IAM, AWS CLI, CloudFront, CloudFormation, CloudTrail)
  • Experience with infrastructure configuration, management and orchestration tools (AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, Chief, Puppet etc)
  • CI/CD – Jenkins, Circle CI or others
  • Good understanding of Linux systems administration including system installation, updates, security, user and service management
  • Highly proficient in shell and one or more scripting languages (e.g. Python)
  • Experience with managing high loaded web servers and applications
  • Deploying, scaling and monitoring web applications and databases
  • Multi-zone load balancing, redundancy and failover management
    Apache/Nginx
  • General administration experience with MySQL or Postgres
  • Good understanding of network configuration (DNS, routing, security, protocols)
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes will come in handy
  • Git experience
  • A degree in computer science, information systems or a related field highly regarded
